Professor, Dr. Alexander Dovgan has been working as a cardiac surgeon since 1980. Almost tree decades of his life were given to pediatric cardiac surgery. He is among those few surgeons who have experience in the field of surgical treatment most complex heart anomalies.

His dissertations were devoted for treatment of tetralogy of Fallot and single ventricle. He is an author more that 92 manuscripts.

He worked in Africa. Under sponsorship of the European association for cardio-thoracic surgeons he passed internship in Great Ormond Street Hospital and Berlin heart center.

 

DEPARTMENT’S MAINACTIVITIES:

 

·        Care for patients with congenital heart defects (CHD);

·        Providing of 24 hours urgent cardiac service for newborn with CHD;

·        Care for patients with Down syndrome and CHD;

·        Clinical supervision of the operated patients;

·        Collaboration with pediatricians;

·        International cooperation.

STRUCTURAL SUBDIVISIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT:

·        There 12 patients rooms for 20 beds in the ward. Every bed-place is equipped the tracker system. All of parameters about every patient hatch to nurses’ place;

·        Outpatient  clinic;

·        Operating-room;

·        Pediatric ICU for 12 beds;

    What we can do closed heart surgeries:

       ·        Patent ductus arteriosus closure;

       ·        Coarctation of aorta repair;

       ·        Sistemic-to-pulmonary shunt;

       ·        Pulmonary artery banding;

       ·        Ballon atrial septostomy;

       ·        Coarctation of the aorta, pulmonary and aortic valve ballon angioplasty;

       ·        Device closure of atrial septal defect.
