At the Kyiv Heart Institute works a Scientific Department of Cardiology and Functional Diagnostics for National P.L.Shupik Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education

This department dedicated to pre-certification classes on expertise in functional diagnosis, advanced classes for cardiologists and internists “Functional diagnosis in cardiology” (2 weeks and 1 month), “Clinical electrophysiology of the heart” (1 month), “ECG daily monitoring” (2 weeks), “Clinical Electrocardiography” (2 weeks), “Transesophageal Echocardiography” (2 weeks).

The main lines of the research at the Department are following:

• functional diagnosis of cardiac diseases;

• assessment of the viability and myocardial asynchrony;

• identification of predictors and prevention of atrial fibrillation, ventricular cardiac arrhythmias after cardiac surgery.

Employees of the department also working in clinical and diagnostic unit of the Kiev Heart Center and Department of surgical treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.

An important part of the scientific work of the department dedicated to annual scientific conferences “Arrhythmology Days in Kiev”, seminars on hypertension, pulmonary embolism, atherosclerosis, heart failure. Reports of these conferences have produced leading experts on cardiology, functional diagnostic and cardiac surgery.

Kyiv Heart Center Department of Cardiology and Functional Diagnostics P.L. Shupyk created “All-Ukrainian Association of Specialists on arrhythmology and electrophysiology of the heart.”

In May 2012 the first issue of the official publication of the Association – the journal “Surgery and Interventional Cardiology” has been published (Editor-Corresponding Member of National Academny of Medical Science of Ukraine,  Todurov BM).

This Department is a clinical base for international clinical researches by BEAUTIFUL, RELY, SHIFT, SIGNIFY, ENGAGE.
